Why is there pressure behind my eyes?
As we all know, eye strain or eye fatigue is a very common phenomenon nowadays. It has been confirmed that as we age our eyes become more strained and tired. Sometimes this problem goes unnoticed until you look at your hands and find that they have a scratchy or a dried out feeling behind the knuckles – this is because the skin in our hands becomes less elastic and more easily damaged. So you can see why do I feel pressure behind my eyes.
When your eyes appear to get tired, it could mean one of two things. The first reason why you feel tired behind your eyes is because your eyes are exposed to more natural daylight. The second reason why you feel tired behind your eyes is because your eyes are exposed to more artificial lighting. As we all know, sunlight is necessary for our bodies. So as our eyes are exposed to more light, our eyes begin to get tired.
Some people go through a phase of worrying that their eyes will slowly go blind. Unfortunately this worrying and fear are the worst thing that you can do to your eyes. This is because once your eyes appear to go blind, you are already behind a serious health condition and should try to take immediate action to reverse it as quickly as possible. By worrying you are only delaying the inevitable.

Squinting creates pressure
The other reason why do I feel pressure behind my eyes is because I am squinting. You may be asking why does my squint make me feel pressure behind my eyes? This is because when we squint, the muscles in our face relax and the blood vessels in our eyes dilate.
Another reason why do I feel pressure behind my eyes is because of my weak eyesight. If you squint then your blood vessels will be smaller and your cornea will be in a state of smaller diameter than normal. Because your cornea is magnified by the amount of blood that is flowing to it, if you have poor eyesight then the cornea will not properly focus the light that reaches it therefore making you squint and the eyeball appearing to be slightly smaller than normal.
One of the reasons why do I feel pressure behind my eyes is because I don’t sleep enough. When we sleep our bodies release chemicals that help us relax and we go to a much deeper sleep. Your eyes release similar chemicals during the night therefore you will have a sharper vision. If you don’t rest enough then the chemicals will build up and you will have problems with your vision because your eyes won’t be as relaxed as they should be.
The most important reason, why do I feel pressure behind my eyes is because I didn’t sleep well last night. If you don’t get enough sleep you will wake up feeling lethargic and more tired than you normally would. If you have been sleeping fine but you were woken up by a light you probably didn’t get enough sleep. This will cause you to have a very dull appearance. It will also make it difficult for you to focus on objects in the room. If you work or study late you may find it hard to concentrate because you are tired and this will add to the pressure behind my eyes.
